NASRIN IRAVANI
Picture

Nasrin Iravani is a research assistant at Louisiana State University. Her research area is fabricate cultures: materials and technology. She is currently working on discovering how computer-aided technologies incorporated into creative art practices. She has attained her MFA in Studio Arts (Ceramic) from the University of Alabama. Since she started experimenting with clay, her artwork reframes historical sculptures from a contemporary, cross-cultural perspective. The subjects of her ceramic and drawing works are memory expressed through art and the culture of her country, Iran (Persia). Her work is engaged in a dialogue between traditional art and western contemporary art and design. She juxtaposes these two concepts in physical forms to build a bridge between traditional values and modern concepts. Also, her educational background includes BA and MA in Handicrafts from Payame Noor University of Esfahan and Tehran University of Art which has provided her with a variety of visual inspirations and an in-depth knowledge of Iranian and Islamic art and history.
