Waveform Bench Installed permanently in the main hall of design building at LSU college of Art and Design, Baton Rouge, LA
It represents the waveform of three lines of the poet Diamonds in Dystopia by Vincent Cellucci: irrigating minds the one prototype for change more giving systems
The bench was 3D modeled in Rhino 3D and digitally fabricated using CNC router and plasma cutter.
Living Typography: Robotically Printing a Living Typeface
Robots connect computational design processes with the physical environment, making digital interaction with nature possible. In this project, a robotic process for planting is presented that enables the computational design of landscapes and demonstrates how robotic planting can be used for generative art and design by creating a living typeface grown from seed.
The robot draws a message by 3-dimensionally (3D) printing a blend of planting media and seeds. When the seeds germinate, the glyphs emerge from their substrate in a flush of green. The letterforms become dynamic living organisms.
Artistic agency shifts from the artist to nature. An article from this project is presented in the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Digital Library (DL).
